Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the schemes?
Monochromatic uses one hue at different lightness; analogous uses neighbouring hues; complementary uses opposite hues; triadic and tetradic split the wheel evenly. Pastel and vibrant adjust saturation/lightness for soft or punchy looks.
What does 'lock' do?
Locked swatches are kept when you click Generate. Useful for fixing your favourite color and re-rolling the rest of the palette around it.
What are the AAA / AA / Fail badges?
WCAG contrast against white and black. AAA is best (≥7:1), AA passes (≥4.5:1), AA Lg passes for large text (≥3:1), Fail means low contrast.
Can I export the palette?
Yes. Use 'Copy all' for a list, or 'Copy as CSS variables' for a ready-to-paste :root block.
